Default What Is The Best Way To Make Boiled Eggs?

I've always liked boiled eggs, but it always seems that when I make them, the shell breaks. Is there a way to make boiled eggs without breaking the shell like that?

Thanks
Spike

theres this little thing shaped like an egg you can buy at 99 cent stores you put in boiling water with the eggs and it changes color when the eggs are ready.

hopefully, you mean that the shell breaks while its cooking and not after, because youre supposed to break the shell and take it off before you eat it

I think the shells break when you boil them too fast and they jump around in the pan.

I've tried all kinds of tricks, but nothing works for me. I always lose a couple. One way is to boil the water first, turn off the heat, put the eggs in the pot and cover it for 20 minutes. Another is punch a hole in the bottom of the shell with a pin to release the pressure. Then there's the one where you add salt to the water. Good luck. Gotta go. Elvis is on.

Hopefully, Spike found himself a good woman who can cook something other than boiled eggs!

Ah, the better half can cook them but I can't. I want to surprise her one morning with croissants, coffee, bacon and soft boiled eggs that aren't messed up.

1
Place the egg in a saucepan.

2
Run cold water into the saucepan until the water is 1 inch above the egg.

3
Place the saucepan on a stove and cook over medium heat until the water begins to boil.

4
Reduce the heat to low.

5
Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10 to 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.

6

Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.

Running cold water over the egg also makes it a lot easier to peel.

Good luck! Sounds like your wife is a lucky gal!
