I didn't see the pinned message on this forum, so...
Just wanted to let you know that starting next wednesday, 10/01, I'll be starting a radio show from 10PM to Midnight at WSIA 99.5. It's mostly new rock, mainly groups that haven't yet gotten mainstream airplay. Eventually, I will be mixing that with some older rock from the 70s to the present. We are also hoping to give exposure to local groups too. WSIA can be received throughout most of Staten Island, Brooklyn, the lower half of Manhattan and parts of Queens and New Jersey. WSIA on the Web... (LINK) Wish me luck.

Thanks, you're right, it's 88.9 FM this Wednesday after 10. I'll probably make a few mistakes. Except for about an hour, I haven't played with a mixing board in nearly a quarter century. Still, I'm already making fewer mistakes than many of my colleagues there, so there's hope for the old horse yet. Thanks for the luck, I'm going to need some. There's always the unforeseable in radio.
Thank God I really like new Rock. It still gives me that excitement I used to get when I heard a good song back in the 60s before Rock got formulated. Not for the faint of heart though.

Congrats Spike!!!
As an ex-club DJ, you've stirred up some of my old memories and juices of the strange world that surrounds radio and the music industry. Hope to hear you ridin' the waves, Jake ![]() |

Thanks. I was trying to not s*ck and that's exactly how to s*ck, so I stopped trying and it began to fall into place. I'm not too intimidated by new music, Rock is Rock to me, but I'm trying to get used to digital techniques so that I can eventually do this when the retirement kicks in. It's pretty easy in reality, just minding the details is the real problem and every new machine has it's own idiosyncrasies, so you have to get used to that.
It went well after the first few minutes of sheer terror - the remote buttons weren't working, so I did it the old fashioned way, hands on the machines. Thanks for all the good wishes. They come in handy when the S*CK factor goes up.

The show went quite well Spike. Very few noticable errors and a noble effort considering the many years you were away from it all. Keep it up and rock on
