The original Lamps of China was on 3rd Ave and around 94th St. Years after it closed, maybe in the late 90s, I vaguely remember a Lamps of China on 4th Ave between 93rd and 94th St.- across from Dunkin' Donuts. It did not last for long. Hawaii Jade was on 4th Ave between 92nd and 91st St.

No one seems to want to use this Message Board any more. Facebook has taken over and I guess this doesn't interest them. It used to be busy before Facebook. Would be nice to get it going again. I always had a Message Board here. It got out of hand with cursing and arguing and I banned the trouble makers.

They seemed to think the could do whatever they wanted. One of them started a new site, bayridgetalk.com and said he wasn't going to ban or censor anyone. That didn't last too long before he started to do the same as I did, ban and censor troublemakers. He soon had to give it up as well and the site is dead now.

He started it on facebook, but it looks like that too isn't working out so well. There are just a few people who cannot play by the rules that everyone else does and ruin it for everyone.

I'll try this again and see if we can get some of the nice people back here to reminisce again about the good old days and present Bay Ridge neighborhood.

It was actually between 84th and 85th but who cares. They were the best around then. After that I went to Lai Yueng on 100th street and 4th Ave. Not sure of spelling. They were expensive though.

General Discussion / Lamps of China

Hi -

Does anyone remember the street on Third Avenue that Lamps of China was on??

Also, there was a more modern Chinese restaurant on 4th Avenue between 92nd Street and 91st Street.  It was eventually turned into a Blockbuster (or a different name) video place. I lived in the apartment building above it. I am pretty sure it was NOT the Lamps of China. My husband remembers it as being the Lamps of China.

We decided to try this site to figure it out.

I live in Deerfield Beach, Fl. now.  Thanks, Ilene Kastner

He passed away in 2007. He used to talk about that candy store job. He said he was a "soda jerk", and that he coined the term "regular" for coffee.
